Simple, in the Sense of Not Mixed
The Christian faith is "simple" in the sense of "single-mindedness, not mixed with hypocrisy, in the sense that a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. Jesus said, Mt 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."
That's why Paul warned of false doctrine:
"2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy:
for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste
virgin to Christ.3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled
Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity
that is in Christ.4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom
we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not
received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear
with him." --2Cor. 11:2-4
A man must love one wife; she must love one husband. God demands and
deserves a single devotion from His creation, for it witnesses to one
God. Deut. 6:4,5 " Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one
LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with
all thy soul, and with all thy might." A curse rests upon all other
"gods" and those who worship them.
Because God is One, our devotion must be one: to love the Lord our God with
all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. This can be begun only through
the great labor of the faith of Jesus Christ for the flesh cannot attain unto
it. See my article on "easy believism"

Faith is simple in one sense and not simple in another. There
must be but one object of our faith so faith must be the work of the One
Spirit The prayer of faith is: Ps 86:11 "Teach me thy way, O
LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name."
Lu 13:24 "Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you,
will seek to enter in, and shall not be able."
Heb. 4:11-13 "Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any
man fall after the same example of unbelief. For the word of God is
quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the
dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a
discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any
creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened
unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do."
It is not a labor of the flesh, but of the spirit, for true faith is the
work of the Spirit and seeks for all things in Jesus Christ alone. It is
passive in that it is the work of God in us; it is active in that it works in
the world through us, His people.
Eph 2:10 "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good
works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
